They're supposed to be the inspiration of the gods of mythology, but then why does each culture only have certain parts of the Isu culture as their mythology. Many of them are named after Roman, Greek, Egyptian, and Norse gods. They seem to originate from Earth but have physiology akin to gods. They're like ancient aliens, but they're not. The Isu are easily the most confusing aspect of the whole Assassin's Creed saga.
