There is no contact number outside Press and Relations, no Live chat, and only an FAQ which is basic at best and difficult to navigate. Seriously - do your research - before you buy.Īfter my purchase there was seemingly no further action, the help section involved going to a separate part of the site, just to identify which model I have, and on returning to the help section, the "Identify Model" option was unable to identify the model I was using. I'll just have to use the map it came with until I decide to buy a different satnav, which will definitely not be a TomTom.
I definitely would NOT recommend buying a TomTom. I wouldn't know, as I'm obviously never going to be able to access anything anyway. What you'd actually get - if you could connect - is updates from other users.

I expect that if the satnav won't even connect to the PC, then the PC can't solve the problem! It's easy to advertise free maps, when the satnav won't even connect isn't it? I've tried their "Forum" and it looks like there is no such thing as "Free Maps for Life" anyway as you have to connect to TomTomHome, which my satnav and a vast list of other models in the TomTom series can't do anyway. The video which came with that link showed a totally different style of satnav and although I tried to follow it, it did nothing. After threatening to write bad reviews on every site possible, a customer service guy sent a link which he said would reset the satnav.

I've NEVER been able to even get the machine to connect to the PC, even though I've downloaded the required software from their site on numerous occasions. I bought this satnav because it advertised "Free Maps For Life". I would not be surprised if TomTom will go out of business. After this subscription, I am not going to renew it anymore.

They said that there is nothing to update then, not true AGAIN! I tried to have a technical conversation but it seems they are trained in a way that they have to close the call ASAP just as it used to happen years ago when all the support moved overseas.
Then, as a subscriber I receive an updated map every 3 months, this month, in fact, I did receive the email with the details to update it but TomTom, when connects, says that there is nothing to update.
The first time they said it was an HW problem and they closed the incident, not true, the problem was SW I re-installed it from the internet and I fixed it. First, they try to not acknowledge the problem debating your issue, if you insist then they tell you to erase the SW or the Maps and reinstall it, or 3rd option they say that the problem is HW and they do not support the product anymore. It is more than 10 years I use TomTom navigator and I contacted the support team many times with great satisfaction, but just within this year (3 times) the experience is terrible. The TomTom support nowadays is useless, and this is really strange because years ago they had a great team.
